James Joseph Panfil
June 18, 1938 - August 30, 2017
On Wednesday, August 30th, 2017, at 5:50 p.m., James Joseph Panfil, 79, of Titusville, FL passed away peacefully with his beloved wife, Beverly, by his side.
Jim was born in Buffalo, NY and graduated from Burgard High School. He grew up with a passion for baseball and was so talented, a recruiter for the Detroit Tigers knocked on his Father’s door only a day after Jim enlisted in the US Air Force! Jim was so proud to be an American and he took pride in serving the US Air Force for a total of 13 years from 1957 – 1969. In 1971, he moved his family to Florida and worked several different jobs as a “man of all trades”. Until the very end, Jim enjoyed anything to do with history, cooking and his undying love for baseball!
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Irene (Hogan) Panfil of Buffalo, NY, son, Dale James Panfil, sister, Lillian Czajka, brother, Robert (Bobby) Panfil and Father-in-Law, Frank Snyder.
Jim leaves to cherish his memory his “Honey Darlin” wife, Beverly (Snyder) Panfil, his daughters, Beverly Ann (Lonnie) Lepka and Susan (Pat) Gibson, 4 granddaughters, 3 great-grandchildren and “1 on the way!”, Siblings: Judy Young, Barbara Large, Irene Ferrentino, Clare Prusak, Jean Panfil, Tommy Panfil and Barney Panfil along with several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and Mother-in-Law, Mary (Sue) Snyder, along with extended family and friends.
A friend to anyone who ever met him, Jim’s kind heart and quick-witted humor will be missed by all. This is not good-bye; it is until we see you again.
The family will have a private service at a later date.
The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff of Hospice of St. Francis in Titusville, Florida.
